Don worked for a national waterproofing consulting firm for over 8 years as a regional director in charge of numerous projects and personnel. He left in March of 2013 to start Moisture Intrusion Solutions (MIS). Before joining the consulting industry, Don worked for a general contractor and attended San Jacinto College in Houston Texas. He received an Associates of Applied Sciences degree in Engineering Design Graphic. While in college Don received specialization certificates in Architecture and Structural design.
Shawn worked for a national building envelope consulting firm for 14 years and progressed from field tech, to Associate to Senior Associate before leaving in December of 2014 to become partner with Don at MIS. His experience as an envelope consultant includes large commercial, multifamily, renovation and due diligence survey projects throughout the continental US. Before joining the consulting industry in 2000, Shawn had worked for a family owned construction business for over 20 years and had experience in masonry restoration, project management, and estimating.
Mr. Kempthorne has over 3 decades of experience in the design and analysis of the building envelope. A career which began in the installation of building waterproofing materials as a Union Roofer. His installation knowledge base was with over 50 water protection systems. Mr. Kempthorne has worked for major waterproofing manufacturers throughout his career, Grace, Tremco, Thoro, Polyguard and Ply-Dek and brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the consulting industry. In 2000 Mr. Kempthorne entered the consulting industry working in the design and restoration of structures. His work has carried him throughout the United States, Canada, Central America, South American, Caribbean Islands and the Middle East.
Dan joined MIS as Vice President of Architectural Services with over twenty-five years experience in construction, architecture, and project management. Dan's experience includes nearly seven years as owner of a boutique architectural firm focused on renovations and remediation in the multifamily, mixed-use, and hospitality industries. He emphasizes a collaborative team-based approach and draws on experience in a range of product types to customize services and solutions for each project.
Dan is a licensed Architect in multiple states. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University with dual Master's degrees in Architecture and Land Development.
Chris Leach began a career in the Building Enclosure Consulting Industry in 2004. Chris previously worked for a Consulting Firm specializing in the waterproofing of the building enclosure systems as the Vice President and as the Technical Service Director for a period of 13 years.
As the Technical Service Director Chris and his team worked to successfully qualify the firm as an accredited testing laboratory in accordance with ISO 17025:2005. This recognized international standard ensures that the testing laboratory meets both the technical competence requirements and management system requirements that are necessary for it to consistently deliver technically valid test results and calibrations.
Chris is a licensed mold assessor and remediator for both the state of Florida and the state of Louisiana.
Chris is a Senior Building Science Consultant specializing in 'Construction Management /Building Forensics / Indoor Environmental Sciences/ Fenestration and Building Envelope Performance Testing/ Design Review / Document and Specification Support and Restoration Projects'.
Mr. Lyttle was in academics from 1970-1998 focused on university instrumentation directing a group of PhD level scientists and engineers. From 1998 through present, Tom has been involved in construction repair and envelope consulting, serving as Principal and Vice President of National Accounts from 2004-2009.
Tom has experience in all types of construction, but a majority of his experience has been with wood framed, multifamily construction. Tom has been qualified as an expert witness by judges, arbitrators and mediators in areas dealing with water intrusion problems into building envelopes and construction defects. He has worked on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. He is also qualified in determining the presence and origin of microbial activity in indoor environments as well as being a certified building infrared thermographer.
